On October 19th, 2024, UNICEF Deputy Executive Director, Kitty Van Heijden, conducted a courtesy visit to the Gubio Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Maiduguri, Borno State, Northeast Nigeria. This visit is considered a significant milestone in UNICEF’s ongoing efforts to provide life-saving services to children and women affected by the recent floods. The mission underscores UNICEF\'s commitment to addressing the humanitarian needs of vulnerable populations through collaborative partnerships.\r\n \r\nDuring her visit, Van Heijden emphasized UNICEF’s dedication to supporting humanitarian initiatives and lauded both partners and the Government for their timely and effective interventions. TPO Nigeria, among other partners managing the one stop centers across the IDP camps for the flood response, felt honored on behalf of protection partners to host the Deputy Executive Director, acknowledging her endorsement and support as pivotal for bolstering ongoing and future humanitarian projects. The visit reaffirms the commitment and collaborative efforts between UNICEF, its partners, and the Government in enhancing response strategies in crisis-affected regions to ensure relief and rehabilitation of affected communities.\r\n
